Comments on Incident atIISC Banglore

I was shocked to read the news that was the headlines in all the news dailies. Yes, I am talking about the firing at IISc Bangalore by a Gunman which claimed the life of Dr. Puri and injured four professors who had been on a visit to IISc Bangalore for an International conference.

This is not the only one of this kind for this season; there have been several incidents of late. Last week there was a threat mail to the parliament, previously the bomb blast in Delhi busy market area just before Diwali, the militant attacks in Kashmir (The head of Mother India!) and much before that the famous 9/11 incident that shook the whole world! Why are these things happening?? Haven’t we as the resident of this earth had the right to live.

Yesterday afternoon I was in IIIT Hyderabad campus using the library. Least did I expect IIIT Hyderabad on Red Alert after the incident at IISc Bangalore!! What was the guarantee that the same incident would have happened any where for that matter! Are we safe to go to any place, or leave alone anywhere are we safe at out homes!

Who are the people behind all this? Why should they terrorize innocent people? Who taught them to kill innocent people? Where did all this negative thought come inside the world? The only story that I attribute all these incidents is the opening of “The Pandora Box”!! How I wish the box was not opened!!

At the top level are the terrorist organizations, which want to instill the feeling of fear in people to proclaim their religion or race or nation as superior!! But are these are the only people. NO. There are so many more to the list. There is underground “mafia” and at the glass root level are the henchmen who are paid to kill people. I am very upset about the way the direction in which the world is heading? On one side we have remarkable achievements in technology that are helping us ease our lives but on the other side are the constant threat to life. Am I safe today?

I don’t want this to continue happening. I don’t want the world to get unsafe and a threatening place to survive in. I want future generations to experience the joy of living in this wonderful planet. But will this happen?

There must be something wrong somewhere that has led to all this. What is the cause? Can I do something to stop all this? I don’t know? I am thinking about it. If you people can think of anything that we (you, me and others who also feel this way) can do to stop just incidents from happening just share it with me. I will be glad to play my part. We can change the world (though not in a day!) slowly but change it for the good for the better. After all

PEACE IS OUR BIRTHRIGHT WE SHOULD HAVE IT!

understandability and adaptability

understandability is the prerequisite in order for users to perform any task. The better users understand an application, the more effectively they can use it because they know a greater portion of the application's functionality. This also leads to more efficiency because they can use functionality that achieves goals faster, with fewer steps, and fewer errors.

Understandability is closely related to learnability. The easier an application is to understand, the easier it is to learn and relearn. Understandability is also closely related to and an aspect of transparency. The more transparent an application is, the easier it is to understand, and vice versa.

We can make a application understandable by making the application small and simple.the task and its procedures are self-evident. The application is self descriptive.Feedback is given on user actions, system actions, and the system state, and there are no implicit or tacit assumptions about how users are expected to behave, particularly none that contradict users' expectations.

Adaptability is the degree to which adjustments are possible in practices, processes, or structures of system to projected or actual changes of climate. adaption can be spontaneous or planned, and can be carried out in response to or in anticipation of changes.

Adaptability/Flexibility refers to the ability to alter a course of action when new information becomes available.

To us as Humans we must possess both understandability and adaptability, understandability to understand changes, and adaptability to adapt to the the changes in the life.

Effective extra curricular activities for improving your career

In today’s world a mere professional without any extra curricular activities is treated as a country man. There should be some activity apart from the curricular one. The extra curricular activity brings you some creativity and communication skills, which are essentially needed. Extra curricular activities can also help debunk stereotypes by making senior management and potential employers aware of hidden facets of your competencies.

Extracurricular activities can broaden your image by providing an indicator of aptitudes and skills that aren't readily discernable from your professional experience. For example, coaching a sports team shows leadership and organizational skills; artistic pursuits suggest creativity; acting indicates traits such as poise and confidence, as well as public speaking skills; chairing an industry trade group evidences management and communication skills; and awards or competitions won generally suggest an appreciation for nuance, not to mention a desire to excel.

Also we have to develop knowledge of functional areas beyond the technical arena. For instance, serving as treasurer for a volunteer organization evidences knowledge of finance and accounting; positions as public relations chair or membership chair show experience in marketing; and general leadership positions such as president or vice president indicate managerial know-how.
These roles allow us to experiment and experience new types of responsibilities and thereby acquire knowledge outside of our 9-to-5 domain. They are also indicators of the broadly defined "people skills" that are key to success in everything from marketing, to strategy, to general management.
At last in my view effective extra curricular activities are the one which make you different from your peers.

Views on work smart to work hard

In this 21st century, time plays a major role in our life. Every second plays a major role. The one who manages the time for all the deeds, in my view is the best person. To manage the time well I view working smarter is the best choice then to work harder.

Everyone work to lead a happy and enjoyable life latter, but if we go on work harder and have no time to spare for ourselves or for our family then what’s use of working? Hence we have to work smart to save time for ourselves.

Working smart is to apply your sense while working to reduce the time taken by that work. Let’s have an example of working hard to working smart from our daily routines: if we want to phone a friend from mobile, if you use the phone book it takes 3 to 4 seconds, but if we use speed dialing it takes less than that. Even using the mouse while using the system is treated as a hard work in my view since it consumes time, there are short cuts provided by operating system use them. In this way if we apply our brains there will be some way out to reduce the time taken for work.

In today’s world even the corporate is looking forward for the one who work smart but not for one who work hard.

I don’t mean to say not to work hard; if there appears the situation to work hard for success, we have to work but while working apply the human spark to it.

As I view working smart is to learn from mistakes other do, while working hard is to learn from our mistakes. Working smart is to utilize the tools which u has.

The effect of computers on the logical reasoning of an individual

Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit.
Louis Gerstner

Computer what’s it? It’s just a piece made of plastic and some metal, just like the table or chair which is made of wood, and then what’s great in it? It is one which just computes fast and accurately. Computers as the name suggests are just computing machines, which are invented by man for the sake of decreasing the computation stress. Even to do the computation, computers don’t do it them selves, we are the one who makes the plastic piece to do the specified work.

To make the computer (plastic piece) to work, it’s the human who had to think logically, and analyze all the pros and cons of that particular application. For example the calculator in the computer was the application written by some one, but not the computers .The one who uses the application designed by others as I view will have a limited growth in their logical thinking but the one who designs the applications will have a very steep increase in their logical thinking.

Finally I say that computers are the one which can just compute but not think, but humans are one who makes the computers to work.

Enumerate on the criteria for the evaluation of your skills

Everyone in this world has some inherent skills present in them, but the only thing is that these are to be known by us and use them for the best.

Some conditions which bring the best of me are:

TASKS OF INTEREST: If the task is interesting to me, I will do my best to make the task successful. An example of this is when I was given a project in C language, in my bachelor’s degree; I did the project with my whole heart and made the project successful.

MEETING THE DEAD LINES:
Meeting the dead lines is one which makes me to move on my toes. To meet the dead line given I will make use of everything I have and do the job. An illustration of this is our MSIT program which always keeps me on my toes and makes me to work smart and hard.

Besides these I think sincerity in the work is one which is important for everyone. I am passionate to learn new things which I think are important to grow.

Evaluate yourself with illustrations on “Are you a leader or a follower”

To be a leader means to shape our opinions and decisions around the greater good for the project we are responsible for. This requires sacrificing our own interests and needs, in favor of those of the project, and the people who work on it. Of course it’s possible to find ways to match our interests with the needs of the project, but it’s the project that comes first.
To be a successful leader means directing our energy in ways that creates the greatest possibility of success for everyone that works with us. Good leaders go beyond their own resources and cultivate positive power from others. They use any combination of persuasion, intellect, magic spells, free cookies, humor, political acumen, and surprising forms of generosity. But regardless of how they do it, leaders get everyone to understand the reasons of why they should contribute their own energy. Good leaders make people want to contribute and work hard.

I had the privilege of leading a group of six on a professional front. This opportunity came to me when I am in the final year of my Bachelor’s degree. As the project on which we had to work was to be decided by us I took the initiative and proposed a project. As the project was picked by me, I planned every thing and organized everyone, i.e. who should do a particular thing and at what time. Our project was to make a charger for the mobiles, which don’t take any electric power input. Since this was a new thing, everyone in the group were tensed and all doubted weather this would work or not, but I clarified their doubts and convinced them that the project will work. At last we were able to complete the project on time and our team was the one which took the best project prize for that year.

At last I think Leader is one who is accountable for the project, weather it’s good or bad. He is the one who should take the responsibility for completion of the project on time and he is the one who should motivate team members and guide them.

Marriage a personal or a social affair – Discuss

Marriage as I believe is a covenant of fidelity—a dynamic, lifelong commitment of one man and one woman in a personal and social life. Marriage in our life is more than a simple union of two people. This is the event where two families unite, two cultures unite.

Marriage is a personal affair at the same time it’s a social affair. It’s a personal affair in the sense that the two individuals who are being united with this bond must accept to the bond. It’s a social affair because after all man is a social being and every thing he does makes an impact on the social life of others.

Marriage is generally a social affair, the two people like to be united in front of their well wisher’s , relatives, friends .In today’s world it is just treated as a big party just like a birthday or any thing else, but I view its not.

Marriages in India are mostly social affair; this may be the reason why most Indian marriages don’t have legal documents for their marriage.

Arranged marriages in general are a social affair where as Love marriage is situational but given the choice, the couples usually choose it to be a social affair than a personal one.

Above all, marriage is one which depends on the two individuals, if they want it is a social affair else it’s a personal one.

Was giving eighteen-year-olds the right to vote a mistake?

When our tennis star sania mizra achieved her first title her age was 17 years, the computer genius Ankit Fadia, wrote the first book “unofficial guide to ethical hacking” at the age of 16. The above two are just the examples of the intelligence and the strength which mostof the people, who are less than 18 have.

If sania mizra can achieve a title at the age of 17, and make our country pride global, why is she not allowed to vote? The right to vote is to be given to a human according to the maturity of the human. And this maturity varies from one place to other. One who is below 18, if he is brought up in city he will be well matured than one who is above 18, and brought up in a rural area.

There is no denying fact that the human intelligence has grown leaps and bounds over the past few decades. Hence there is an every possibility to have better politicians rule them.
If a thirteen year old can discuss politics, an eighteen year old should be capable enough to take a decision on politics. In the Indian context, when higher aged group people get carried away by the oratory skills of present day politicians, it would be no wonder if youth also follow the same track. But with education taking over major part of people’s time, and with youth being the major audience to whom education is imparted, if they are given the right to vote, there is a definite scope for making these politicians bow down to the power of ‘vote’, and stopping them from misleading people in the name of baseless issues like religion etc.

It would be advisable to explore the possibility of reducing the age required for getting elected to the government as well, as it would pump in fresh blood and fresh thinking, giving way to fresher and newer ideas, for the betterment of people. Time stands testimony to the fact that young individuals have been a decisive part in any movement or struggle or nation building. So denying them a chance to vote and a chance to rule would be like compromising with the growth of a nation.

To get political success, the major chunk of any politician vote bank calculations would be youth. So in today’s scenario if young individuals are given a chance to vote, they can certainly make a big difference in selection of leaders, if they get a correct picture of them before they go to vote. There is less chance of youth getting carried away by the false expectations built up by unrelenting politicians, in their quest for power, because youth very well understand the future course of action of that kind of politicians, which is not more than grabbing a quick buck, and depleting government resources built up by inputs from the very people who vote. In the present day context a country can be rest assured of its future, if people from an early age of eighteen, are given a right to vote.

Mistakes are done by humans....

Every one does the mistake one time or another. Before coming into an assumption we should check the circumstances in which the mistake is done. If you think that boss done the mistake by telling the CEO that he is the person who wrote all the reports, even you made a mistake of over hearing their discussion which you are not supposed to do?

Any one in that situation will be angry, and I will be same. When the anger in me reduces, I will think of the situation. Every one in this society has greed. Even I am working under him, because he is giving me a high remuneration than others. That represents that even I have greed in me. Hence there is no wrong in what he has done.

I will be getting benefited even, since I will be under good eyes of him. So if that situation occurs ever in life always be calm.

At last I conclude this by quoting a proverb” Every one can find fault, few can do better”.

Memo

It came to my notice that time cards are being misused. Employees who come late shouldn’t put 8:00 and the one who take long lunch shouldn’t put 1:00. This deceitful will not be tolerated. This behavior of you people left me with a little choice, but to institute a time-clock system. From next Monday, all the employees are appealed to punch in and punch out when ever they enter or go from work area respectively.

The time clock will be at the entrance of each area, so you have very little excuse for not punching in. An employee who is late for work or coming late from lunches more than 3 times will have to answer. This is a place of business and we don’t want to be taken advantage of by dishonest people.

It’s bad that few bad apples spoil things for every one.

welcome note

I am athirst to welcome you all to our family in United States. It’s time to shake hands in person and not just across sea. I am cheerful to know you all, and I will do my best to make you comfortable in America.

The king of pop

Have you ever passed through a word “all rounder”? If I have to remember the meaning of that word I would remember Elvis Presley. Elvis Presley was born in America. He was the most applauded artists of twentieth century.

Elvis Presley was a well known singer and actor. He was eminent for rock and roll. He was the one who sang world famous songs like “love me tender”,”All shook up”. He trained to play guitar himself. Not only singing, he was famous for dancing even. His dance was mesmerizing, which tied the audience to their seats. This great person died in Memphis, Tennessee. His death is still a conundrum. He might have died due to drug and alcohol abuse.

Its.. me...

Strengths and Weakness in me

Writing or orating is an art. This art will be mastered by few people in world, in my view. Coming to me I haven’t mastered them but I rank my self as an average person in those skills.

I have presented many paper presentations and conducted many seminars in my college. When I dig deep into presentations I find myself unrewarding. I am good presenter but the vocabulary I choose is very poor.

I am an active listener. Listening doesn’t mean just listening to what the orator says, but to interpret them, and giving a feed back to the orator that the listener has understood the thing or he hasn’t.

I have undergone training for communication skills under CNK management group. Under this training I came to know about a truth that I am bit nervous while speaking. At the end of the training I have over come that aspect. I am trying to learn a new English word every day to overcome the vocabulary problem.

I also came to know that I have writers block with me. The idea what to write and how to write to impress others always hinders me. During the training I came to know that with good vocabulary and with good grammar I can overcome them.

At last I know that in one night I can’t master the skills of writing and orating, but I am striving hard to master them. I have confidence in me, that I can master them.
